Dedication: Kris Koop Ouellette

OuelletteWith great affection and respect, we dedicate this production of Sister Act to the memory of our dear friend, Kris Koop Ouellette.  Kris began her work with Virginia Rep (Theatre IV) immediately after graduating from Shenandoah University (Magna Cum Laude).  She toured with our children's theatre for two years, starred as Cinderella in our first production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, and then toured nationally with our Barksdale production of Joseph … Dreamcoat.  From there she joined Broadway's National Tour of Cats, played Anne in A Little Night Music at Westport Country Playhouse, appeared in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Showboat broadcast on PBS, joined Cleveland Opera as Hodel in their Fiddler on the Roof, and starred on Broadway for twelve years in The Phantom of the Opera, where she became the first actor in the show's record-breaking run to play all three of the female leads: Christine, Carlotta, and Madame Giry.  She was a tireless fundraiser for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS.  She developed educational programming for Broadway Classroom, Sony Music Young Artists in Development, AFTRA Bookpals, NY Stages, and Camp Broadway.  Kris left Broadway to follow her husband Steve back to his home in Michigan, where she worked at MSU's Wharton Center, as Associate Director of the Institute for Arts and Creativity.  This was the position she considered her dream job—working with young people and bringing her lifelong passion, enthusiasm, and love of performance to the community.  We will be forever proud to call Kris a member of the Virginia Rep family.
