A musical narrative of the history of African-American music – from slave spirituals to jazz to blues to rap. The show is part toe-tapping entertainment and part vital history lesson. SONGS FROM THE SOUL examines the evolution of African American music and its role in American life.
Auditions will be held Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 6-10 PM in the Theatre Gym at Virginia Rep Center, 114 West Broad St. Richmond VA 23220.
Callbacks will be held in the evening on Monday, December 4, 2017.

Those auditioning are asked to prepare 16 bars of a pop song (OR a song that demonstrates your range) and be prepared to dance. Please bring sheet music in your key. An accompanist will be provided.
Rehearsals begin January 9, 2018 for a run of February 2 – February 25, 2018 at Virginia Rep’s Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn.
Union and Non-Union. All performers will be paid.
